A little something for our customers.

December 14th, 2010 by Richard Felix

When we launched Dispatch, it was our foray into the world of web apps as Sense Labs. We’ve been building things on the web for a long time now, but this was the first thing we’ve built as a company, so it was, is and will always be very special to us. The first customer that told us that Dispatch was just what they’d been looking for validated our idea and really made us feel like we had built something special. We felt like we should return the favor and do something special for our customers. We were inspired by our friends over at Wufoo, who send out Thank You cards to their users. We thought it was an awesome idea and wanted to do something along those lines. A handwritten note is still one of the best ways to convey appreciation, and we appreciate our customers very much. But how could we do something that communicated who we are and was uniquely ours? Lasers, of course!

A little backstory: This past Valentine’s Day, I wanted something special to give to my wife, and I’d heard that this online store Candyspotting was making awesome cards that had intricate designs on the outside which were cut with a laser. I got her a card similar to this one for her and she loved it.

Now, we’re looking for cards that are uniquely ours, so obviously they have to be custom-made, and who could possibly be a better choice to make some cards for us than Sarah at Candyspotting? So, we got in touch with her and worked out the details. I sketched up my idea, David perfected it with his crazy design skills, we picked a color for the paper and lining, and we sent it off to be created.

What we got back from Candyspotting was even better than we could have imagined. Here’s what they look like.

If you’re a paid Dispatch customer, we will be writing you a note very soon and sending you one of these spectacular cards as a small token of our gratitude. Thanks so much for your support.
