Email: Time well spent?

September 29th, 2010 by David Link

According to Tim Burress, co-author of The Hamster Revolution: How to Manage Your Email Before It Manages You, a professional today spends (on average) about two and a half to three hours per day, every day, on email. That’s nearly 40% of a workday. Gone.

Another study from 2003, conducted by the American Management Association, found that employees who use email spend up to an hour and 47 minutes managing their email each day. While neither of these studies necessarily reflect how much we use email today, there is one thing we all know for sure: Whether it’s 10, 20, or 40 percent of our day, email takes too much time.

These are the realizations that led us to create Dispatch. We wanted to build a tool that would allow professionals to stop spinning their wheels, and finally get some traction with the numerous requests they receive each day. Dispatch isn’t meant to replace email, it helps you reclaim your inbox, so you can focus on the important aspects of your job.

Just imagine, if Dispatch can save you just 1 hour per week (we hope it saves a lot more!), over the course of a year, you’ll have saved nearly 7 whole work days. Sounds like a vacation well-deserved.
